future of fauna

Future of Fauna are an art collective, birthed from the imagination of Megan Elinor and Kaylum Cosgrave, deep in the hills of rural Mid Wales. They represent the new wave of folklore, synthesising tradition and our fast-paced, ever changing modern world.

We are passionate about telling stories through performance, embracing the power of expression to connect with audiences. It involves using puppets and art installations to bring characters and narratives to life, creating immersive experiences that resonate deeply.

The origins of Arian & The Weavers

Meet Arian. A celestial goddess whom transcends age and mortality, shaped in the form of a gargantuan arachnid. Her size and Her features may frighten you at first sight, but looks can be deceiving… The Goddess of time and fate is a more friendly creature than most. Arian set out on a mission to revive the ancient art of Welsh hand weaving, inspired Herself by the deep rooted history of the craft, and to challenge the idea that spiders are to be feared and fought upon. So She travelled far and wide across the UK, searching for followers worthy of spreading Her message, where she came across 6 prodigal creatives whom would join her on this mission. Here brings the coming of ‘Arian and The Weavers’.

This story of Arian and The Weavers takes inspiration from the Welsh book of folklore, the ‘Mabinogion’. More specifically, the Welsh goddess Arianrhod. Arianrhod is a multi-faceted goddess who presides over various aspects of life, including fertility, the afterlife and all of the goings on in-between.
